Overimitation is now Published in PNAS!

Hi everyone,

I'm extremely happy to announce that the first portion of the research my Yale colleagues and I have been doing on children's overimitation has just been published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences. Hooray! It's been a long journey, and I'd like to sincerely thank the good friends and co-workers who have put in so many long hours into making it happen. To my co-authors Andrew Young and Frank Keil, and to my amazing research assistants Jennifer Barnes, Diana Damrosch, Jennifer Lin, Neha Mahajan, and Deanna Simeone -- thank you! I hope you agree with me that all those early morning visits to preschools across Connecticut were well worth it.

Just as importantly, I also want to formally kick off this forum by inviting you to submit your own thoughts and questions on overimitation, or on childhood cognitive development and learning in general. You'll see that I've set up some initial discussion areas to get us started, but please don't feel too constrained. I'm looking forward to making this a fun and welcoming spot for parents, educators, and scientists alike to trade their thoughts and opinions on the fascinating puzzle of how kids tick.
